Reader's choice award

We are happy to announce our second received award in a hopefully long list to come. OpenTTD has won first prize of the HUP community (HUP = Hungarian Unix Portal) reader's choice contest in category 'Favourite Free Game'. You can read the official announcement here (Hungarian).

This is the second time OpenTTD has been awarded with first prize by the HUP community, last time in 2005.

The accompanying logo will be put up shortly in its own honourable space as soon as I figure out where to put it exactly ;). Until then...

OpenTTD 0.6.0-beta2

Tonight we have released the second beta of the 0.6(.0) series containing a few small features and a fair amount of bugs have been fixed.

Let's hope that this beta has way less bugs than the first beta so we can release 0.6.0 'soon', but then releasing 0.5.0 took 3 months so nothing is certain.

OpenTTD 0.6.0-beta1

The first major step into the road of releasing 0.6.0, which will give you loads of new features, like newhouses, newindustries, signals and diagonal tracks under bridges, trams, autoslope, oneway roads, half tile slopes and much more. It furthermore contains quite a few performance improvements under certain conditions as well as a very long list of bugreports. If you are really interested, you should read the changelog.
We OpenTTD developers hope that you will thoroughly test it so we can quickly release the real 0.6.0.

Have fun!

OpenTTD 0.5.3

Today we have released 0.5.3 which contains lots of small bugfixes and a few major bugfixes for bugs that could lead to remotely triggered crashes of servers and/or clients.

We therefor urge you to update to 0.5.3.

Fundraiser 2007/2008 - Closed

Less than 24 hours after the start of our fundraiser, we are happy to tell you that we reached, and exceeded, our goal. We raised a total of £310.12 within 20 hours. We thank you very much for your support, it is great to know we have such a supportive community behind us, and it motivates us even more to continue what we do: improve a great game to become even more great.

Although we have enough to support our current hosting needs, we would love to buy our own dedicated server, so we can run the nightly builds on our own system. Currently it is kindly donated by one of our users, but we already know this won't be for ever. By buying our own dedicated server, we ensure ourselves of nightly builds now and in the future. Therefore we do ask you to continue to donate to support us. Not much more is needed to reach that goal. But as we don't see it are primary goal, we won't put it into a fundraiser. Even so, we thank you very much for anything you can do for us.

As this was our first fundraiser ever for OpenTTD, we had no idea what to expect. But we are truly surprised by your support. Such a large amount in such a short time. We are truly grateful, and hope you will keep enjoying OpenTTD as we do.

Thank you all once again!
